FICPI is proud to sponsor the Annual Essay Competition organised by ATRIP, the International Association for the Advancement of Teaching and Research in Intellectual Property.
We are pleased to report that that the winners of the 2022 FICPI Young Scholar's Prize have been announced.
First place is Léon Dijkman, PhD researcher, European University Institute, with the essay called ¨Pairing Sturgeon with Champagne: towards a due cause exception in the law of geographical indications¨. Read the essay HERE
The second place is Artha Dermawan, doctoral student at the University of Lapland, Finland, supported by the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, Germany, with an essay called “Text and Data Mining Exceptions in the Development of Generative AI Models: What the EU Member States Could Learn from the Japanese ‘Non-Enjoyment’ Purposes?
The third is Jasmin Brieske, PhD student at the chair for civil law and commercial law with a specific focus on international intellectual property law at Goethe University Frankfurt, with an essay called “Digital User Rights and Their Enforcement: What Is the Copyright Directive Asking For?”
FICPI and ATRIP warmly congratulates the winners of this year’s competition and thanks all the authors of the submitted essays. The author of the first place will present its essay during the 2023 Congress in Tokyo where FICPI Japan President Kenji Sugimura will attend as FICPI representative.
