URGENT UPDATES - Munich Forum A NEW Session 8 for the Munich Forum FICPI has just announced a new Session 8 at the FICPI Forum being held in Munich this September. Speakers at this session, focussed on recent developments and planned initiatives in key IP offices, will be headlined by Mr. Robert L. Stoll, Commissioner of Patents in the USPTO. Mr. Stoll, Commissioner since October, 2009, and previously Dean of Training and Education at the USPTO, directing efforts to train foreign officials and the public on all aspects of intellectual property, will discuss developments and initiatives at the USPTO and be available to answer your questions on where the USPTO is headed. Separate Registration for Forum Session 7 FICPI has agreed to open participation in Session 7 of the Munich Forum, a high-level panel discussion on enforcement of domain name rights in a world of expanding top level domains, to those who wish to attend this session, but who may not be able to attend the entire Forum. This session, to be moderated by Petter Rindforth (SE), will feature presenters Dawn Osborne (GB), Nick Wood (ComLaude), Gabriel Leonardos (BR) and Jonathan Cohen (ICANN). |

FICPI organised a Symposium at New Delhi on 9-11 December 2009 with leading speakers including Judge Fysh (UK), officials from WIPO, The EPO and IP India. The two-day programme featured among others a live panel discussions with CEOs from Indian industry plus members of FICPI and CII, an assessment of patentability in India, a comparison of patent examination and opposition practice in Europe, India and elsewhere. Volcanic Ash leads to EPO, OHIM Extensions of Time Recent announcements have been made by the EPO and OHIM to deal with disruptions caused by the volcanic ash cloud. Decision No. Ex-10-1 of the President of OHIM extended all time limits expiring between 15 April 2010 and 23 April 2010 (inclusive) to 30 April 2010. A notice from the EPO under Rule 134 EPC extended the time limits expiring between 15 April 2010 and 28 April 2010 to 29 April 2010. This extension of time does NOT apply to a priority claim. The EPO has advised that restoration of the right of priority may be available (Rule 26bis.3 PCT) |

Sept. 2009 | "FICPI-China SYMPOSIUM, November 2009" ![]() In the current global financial crisis the world hopes that China's continued economic growth will result in the resuscitation of the world economy. The Chinese National Section of FICPI organised an interesting Symposium in Shenzhen on 15-17 November 2009, which covered the latest developments in the Chinese Patent System and its utilisation and probed into the provisions and differences of patent legislation, application and litigation in China and other jurisdictions.
