FICPI at the International Congress of the Brazilian Association of Intellectual Property (ABPI)

17th December, 2018

As reported previously, Ivan Ahlert talked to the president of the second group of the Federal Court of Rio de Janeiro, judge Andre Fontes, about the possibility of FICPI and ABAPI jointly organising a course on patents for judges by judge Paul Michel, who had previously hinted to him that he might accept such an invitation, but who later declined in view of medical restrictions. The president of ABAPI reiterated his desire to cooperate with FICPI.

Ivan Ahlert also contacted the director of Interfarma (Association of Pharmaceutical Research Industry), Mrs. Tatiane Schofield, about the possibility of FICPI studying the specific situation of examination of patent applications in Brazil in the pharma field by the Brazilian Patent Office but with the unusual intervention of ANVISA (Brazilian’s FDA).

Mr. Ahlert talked to potential speakers for future FICPI events:

  • Dr. Howard Read (UK), patent attorney, howard.read@appleyardlees.com spoke about patentability of IA related inventions,
  • Richard Mair (UK), patent attorney, richard.mair@abelimray.com spoke about Brexit
  • Taciana Pereira (BR), bioengineer, director of research at Allevi, taciana@allevi3d.com spoke about 3D printing of human organs
