FICPI, The International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys

15th January, 2019

FICPI and ASIPI jointly promote the 2019 FICPI ACADEMY Patent Drafting Course in South America to be held in Colombia (May – September 2019).

During the ASIPI Congress, on Wednesday 28th November 2018, a brief meeting with a delegation of ASIPI was held.

ASIPI were represented by President Maria Pilar Troncoso, incoming President Ms. Elisabeth Siemsen do Amaral, Secretary Luiz Henriquez and new Treasurer Mr. Matías Noetinger, who met at FICPI’s booth with Marc Chauchard (Treasurer General), Elia Sugranès (Assistant Secretary General) & Danny Huntington (FICPI President of Honour) on behalf of FICPI.

Marc Chauchard thanked ASIPI for the invitation to attend the Congress, as well as for the facilities to use, for the first time, a welcoming booth allowing FICPI to present and promote (a) the second edition of the FICPI Latin American Patent Drafting course (to be held in Colombia in May and September 2019), (b) as well as the 2019 FICPI Vienna Open Forum.

The delegation of ASIPI explicitly requested FICPI to send to the Secretary the final version of the Patent Drafting program, as soon as it is ready, and agreed to send a mail to all ASIPI Members. We all agreed on presenting the Course; all participants agreed that it was a good opportunity for ASIPI and FICPI to share experiences and benefit one from the other and that their respective Secretariats should coordinate agendas in order to make easier mutual attendance to meetings, not only for governing bodies, but also for members.

More than 50 Delegates visited the booth and received detailed information about the Drafting Course. Official contacts were made with several National IP organizations with whom cooperation could be expanded during the forthcoming months, generally on exchanging Meeting dates and more precisely on the Patent Course.

ASIPI was a well-attended meeting with high quality conferences and lectures, in addition to agreeable social events allowing more networking.

Mrs Elisabeth Siemsen do Amaral was elected as President during the ASIPI General Assembly.
