Resolution of the Executive Committee, Edinburgh, United Kingdom
5-9 October 1981
“PCT”
FICPI
, the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys, broadly representative of
the free profession throughout the world, assembled at its Executive Committee and World
Congress held in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, 5-9 October 1981, passed the following
resolution:
FICPI
appreciates
the willingness of WIPO to undertake a study of a possible simplification of
PCT procedures.
The FICPI Congress
supports
this study and
urges
WIPO to also include in its study an
examination of the possibilities of having the National Patent Offices accept, at least to a large
extent, the preliminary work done during the international phase including the international
search and, accordingly, to reduce both the fees and the amount of work, including the national
searches, to be done at their level in relation to international applications entering the national
phases.
