About me

Before licensed as Korea patent/trademark, Mr. Kim had been working for one of the largest general trading companies in Korea in charge of foreign investment project for almost 9 years. His career in the company became his basis of in-depth understanding of business. After being a licensed patent/trademark attorney, his has been engaged in the leadership of several IP related community including the Korea Patent Attorneys Association (VP, IP Valuation Committee Chair), Asia Patent Attorneys Association (President of Korean Group, Councilor, Design Committee Co-Chair, Anti-Counterfeiting Committee Co-Chair, Special Project Committee Chair) Licensing Executive Society (Asia Pacific Comm. Co-Chair, Korea Group VP), He is also member of INTA, ECTA, AIPPI and FICPI. He was also a guest professor of Hankuk Univ. of Foreign Studies for years.
Head Attorney of Trademark Division, Supervising Trademark Division (All TM and Design related matters before Korea Intellectual Propery Office and proceedings for foreign filings) Consulting for global TM management, IP Licensing, Commercialization, IP enforcement, Contracting, Legal Opinion and Business promotion.

Roles in FICPI

  • CET 1 Trade Marks

    CET Group 1 deals with all issues that are related with trade mark registration, prosecution, maintenance and protection.

    The group's field of work includes national trade marks, EU trade marks and international trade marks in accordance with the Madrid Agreement and Protocol, with a special focus on the harmonisation of laws at international and national level. FICPI’s focus is to improve the legal position of brand owners and facilitate the work of trade mark practitioners.

    In addition, as the group has a high understanding of the interaction of trade marks with other IP and related rights and the importance of Internet for trade mark owners. There is a special focus on geographical indications and domain names.
