About me

Sunita is a lawyer and a registered Patent agent. She obtained her LL.B. (awarded Gold Medal) from The School of Legal Studies, CUSAT, Cochin, an LL.M. from The George Washington University Law School, Washington DC, USA (awarded Thomas Buergenthal Scholarship). Prior to her study of law, she obtained her M.Sc. in Cytogenetics, an MBA and a Diploma in Computer Science. Sunita has had the distinction of being nominated for the “IP Woman of the Year 2008” Award by the organizers of IP Summit held in Brussels on December 4, 2008 and has been in the rosters of the International Who's Who of Professionals.

An advocate and a patent agent, Sunita started her legal career at the High Court of Kerala at Ernakulam handling a variety of matters chiefly, writ petitions and appeals. Thereafter she relocated to Delhi and worked at Anand and Anand, from where she resigned as a Partner heading Life Sciences & Geographical Indications (GI) group to set up SKS Law Associates. Sunita is a member of LES, APAA, AIPPI and INTA, and has been empanelled as legal counsel for the Protection of Plant Variety and Farmers' Rights (PPV & FR) Authority, Ministry of Agriculture. She was the legal advisor on the Central Technology Management Institute, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). She has also served as Legal Advisor of the WHO on various projects including drafting National Health Law for Bhutan.
