Gernot Krobath studied physics at the University of Heidelberg and at the University of Oklahoma, USA. He wrote his diploma thesis on a heavy ion physics experiment at the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN). Within the scope of his doctoral thesis in the field of elementary particle physics at the University of Munich (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich) and at CERN, he dealt with C ++ programming and grid computing.
In 2025, Gernot Krobath again received a teaching assignment for the lecture »Introduction to German and European Patent Law for Physicists« from the University of Munich (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich).
His training as a patent attorney included stations in a patent litigation chamber of the Mannheim regional court, the German Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Patent Court. After completing his time as a patent attorney trainee in a large law firm in Munich, he passed the German patent attorney exam and the European Qualifying Examination in 2012.
Gernot Krobath has extensive knowledge of opposition proceedings and examination proceedings at the German Patent and Trademark Office and at the European Patent Office as well as at foreign patent offices in the USA, Japan, South Korea and China. Gernot Krobath also has extensive experience in patent infringement proceedings and patent nullity proceedings.
