In this session Louis-Pierre Gravelle, our Focus 45 Host, will discuss IP Insurance with Jean-Nicolas Longchamp and representatives from AON. 

The topic of IP litigation insurance also forms the basis of the World Congress Workshop "Understanding IP litigation insurance without the headache".

Jean-Nicolas Longchamp

Jean-Nicolas Longchamp, Ph.D., Founder of dynamXIP GmbH.

Jean-Nicolas Longchamp grew up in Lausanne, where he completed his entire mandatory schooling and high school education. His academic path led him to ETH Zurich, where he earned a degree in Physics in 2004. He wrote his diploma thesis on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy of Proteins in Gothenburg, Sweden.

After this initial research experience, Jean-Nicolas decided on a scientific career and earned a Ph.D. in Solid-State Physics from ETH Zurich. In September 2007, he received the title of Dr. Sci. Nat. ETHZ. From 2007 to 2013, he continued his research activities as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Zurich in the fields of biophysics and structural biology. During this time, he developed a revolutionary electron microscopy technology for imaging individual proteins at atomic resolution. In 2013, he was awarded the prestigious Ambizione fellowship from the Swiss National Science Foundation, which enabled him to continue his promising research independently. During this fellowship, which lasted until 2017, he was invited to numerous international conferences.

Kushtrim Aziri

Kushtrim Aziri, Broker Cyber Specialty, Aon Switzerland

Kushtrim is responsible for IP insurance solutions in Switzerland and supports Aon’s specialty practice within the Cyber sector.
 
He specializes in the design, implementation, support, and management of international insurance programs in the Intellectual Property (IP), Crime, Cyber and Technology Errors & Omissions sectors. Kushtrim also supervises framework agreements for special conditions in the corporate customer sector and contributes to employee training.
 
Kushtrim joined Aon in early 2023. Prior to that, he worked in various roles within the insurance industry in Zurich in underwriting at Liberty Specialty Markets & Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty and as a Client Advisor at Allianz Swiss.
 
Kushtrim is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Law degree at the University of Zurich and holds the 2024 VBV (insurance intermediary) qualification. He obtained his Swiss Matura in 2015.
 

Will Kier

Will Kier, Head of IP Risk & Structured Solutions EMEA, AON

Will lead’s Aon’s IP Risk & Structured Solutions practice for Aon across EMEA.

Will specializes in structuring complex IP lending transactions, enhanced with insurance. Will is responsible for driving Aon’s go-to-market strategy in EMEA and leads engagement with both insurance providers and lending capital partners. Will also advises Aon’s European-based clients on their IP Risk needs, including the availability and applicability of innovative insurance solutions. 

Will has been with Aon for over ten years sending time in both London and New York. He has always focused on intangible asset solutions for multinational clients, first as a broker within the Financial Services Group, and more recently as a Director within Cyber Solutions.

Prior to joining Aon in 2011 Will was at the University of Birmingham. During his time in the industry he has become an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII).

Louis-Pierre Gravelle, FICPI webinar host, Dipchand LLP.

Louis-Pierre Gravelle is Partner at Dipchand LLP in Canada and Vice President of FICPI's Practice Management Committee.

He specialises in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications and providing patentability, validity, infringement and right to manufacture opinions in the fields of electricity, telecommunications, mechanical and information technology. He is a registered patent agent in Canada and in the United States (1998).

Louis-Pierre is involved in due diligence matters and managing patent portfolios. He is also involved in strategic counselling for start-ups, small, medium and large-sized businesses.

A member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) and the Canadian Bar Association (CBA), Louis-Pierre was called to the Québec Bar in 1995. He is also a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ). Louis-Pierre Gravelle is past-chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) and past co-president of the Joint Liaison Committee – Patents between the Patent office and IPIC. He is a Councillor for FICPI Canada.

He is listed in the IAM Patents 1000, and has been since 2012. Louis-Pierre is often called upon to speak on a variety of IP-related topics, at local and international conferences and events.
