A Message from the ATRIP President
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
After three years of online activities due to the global pandemic, we are delighted to gather again in presence for the 41st Congress at the University of Tokyo in July 2023.
This year, the Congress will explore the interactions of IP laws with other legal disciplines, with the goal to analyze how these have modified the understanding and shape of IP laws and doctrines, or should influence the understanding of IP in the future. Intellectual Property (IP) norms do not exist in isolation. Their increasing societal, technological, and economic relevance as well as the steady expansion of IP rules to new areas have proliferated the interactions with other bodies of laws that sometimes carry different, even conflicting rationales. The examples of “IP and ...”- reflections could be multiplied at length and have sometimes given rise to entire subdisciplines. It was therefore time to give the topic a more comprehensive analysis. Again this year, there will be also a special attention given to PhD presentations, which will for the 1st time benefit from their own call for paper.
ATRIP is extremely thankful to the organizers of this year’s Congress Prof. Yoshiyuki TAMURA, Professor of Law at the University of Tokyo Graduate Schools for Law and Politics, and Prof. Toshiya WATANABE, Professor and Vice Director of the University of Tokyo Institute for Future Initiatives. We are looking forward to seeing you in July in Tokyo!
Professor Christophe Geiger
ATRIP President (2022-2024)
