Salone

During the belle époque years, the elegant Umberto I Gallery in Naples hosted some famous theatre-cafés, that combined theatrical and musical entertainment with socialising in a refined setting.

The first and most renowned, located in the Gallery’s underground spaces, was the Salone Margherita: opened on 15 November 1890, it was inspired by the Parisian model of the Folies Bergère and the Moulin Rouge and emulated their styles and trends. Not only the most famous international stars, such as La Bella Otero, paraded on its stage but also many no less talented and fascinating local artists: the sciantose (a term borrowed from the French chanteuse).

The Salone Margherita, with its elegant style, the architectural details reflecting the taste of the time, the floor and mezzanines embellished with polychrome marble will be the perfect venue for this evening's formal dinner.

Naples

The Congress informal dinner will take place in a few fish restaurants around the charming Borgo Marinari, a small hamlet located on the islet of Megaride, at the foot of Castel dell'Ovo, on Naples’ seafront, facing FICPI’s Conference hotel.

A key point for the city's maritime and commercial life in past centuries, the Borgo Marinari is one of Naples’ most picturesque places, with its narrow streets and colourful houses; a corner that seems to have stood still in time, characterized by the captivating and peaceful atmosphere of an old fishing village, with its marina hosting yachts and small boats.

Pietrarsa Panoramic

It’s impossible to think of a more spectacular or fascinating location for the final night of the Congress than the National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa!

Here travelling through time seems possible, among locomotives and carriages that have united Italy for almost two centuries, from 1839 to the present day.

The museum is located between Naples and Portici, nestled between the sea and Vesuvius, with a spectacular view of the Gulf of Naples.

Pietrarsa Museum is housed on the first stretch of railway built in the country, within Italy’s first industrial hub: the ancient Royal Workshops for Mechanical Works, Ammunition and Locomotives Production, founded by Ferdinand II of Bourbon in 1840.

The workshops were in operation until the end of the 1970s, when the site was earmarked to become a museum. The museum initially opened in 1989. After further extensive restoration works carried out in recent years, Pietrarsa was finally transformed into the prestigious and captivating venue that we see today.

We’ll start the evening with a welcome aperitif served on an outdoor terrace facing the sea, then move to the exclusive setting of the Steam Locomotives Hall for the Gala Dinner itself.

The hall is the biggest and most evocative space in the Museum, dedicated to showcasing the Italy’s most important steam locomotives, creating a truly unique and stunning scenography for our event!

An after-dinner party with music and dancing will complete the programme for the final night of FICPI’s prestigious World Congress!
