Michael Buck has been a registered Australian patent and trade mark attorney since 1998. He holds degrees in Engineering (Electrical) and Arts (Philosophy & Mathematics) from The University of Queensland and a Masters of Legal Studies (IP) from the University of Technology Sydney.

After graduation Michael initially worked as a computer programmer on parametric CAD applications before taking a position with a microwave communications engineering company.

In the period 1994 to 1996 Michael was sole patents officer with international medical electronics company, Cochlear Limited. Subsequently he undertook studies for registration as a patent and trade mark attorney during three years of employment with Watermark patent and trade mark attorneys in their Sydney office before working under John Pizzey at Pizzeys in Brisbane. From 2001 to 2008, Michael was a partner of the Brisbane firm of Eagar & Buck prior to commencing Michael Buck IP in 2009.

Michael is one of a very small number of Australian patent attorneys to have passed all of the final Patent Attorney Standards Board admission examinations simultaneously and on first attempt.
