Utkan BAKIRCI is a European Patent Attorney, Turkish Patent & Trademark Attorney and Attorney at Law, with a Chemical Engineering background. He has the capacity to represent his clients before the European Patent Office, Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, World Intellectual Property Office and the National Courts. He will also be able to act before the newly established Unified Patent Court.
Utkan has started Istanbul Technical University (ITU) after graduating from Robert College. In 2009 he has become a chemical engineer and have worked in the polymer industry for a decade, always with an R&D focus.
At his first attempt, he has become a patent and a trademark attorney by passing both of the national exams. He also became a European Patent Attorney by passing the pre-exam and all papers of the EQE. Additionally, he is in the list of Court Appointed Experts and actively being appointed to mainly patent and trademark trials by the Specialized Courts of Intellectual Property in Istanbul.
Besides professional activities which are essential for the training of a patent attorney, he has continued his legal studies also after becoming a national patent attorney. These include, completing the 2 years course of CEIPI Training in European Patent Law. At the same time, he started Law School at Kadir Has University with Honour Scholarship, attended all his legal courses and graduated in 4 years with the second rank in class. Utkan has completed his Master of Laws in Economic Law at Galatasaray University in order to obtain his LL.M degree. In 2023, he graduated from CEIPI's diploma program on Patent Litigation in Europe at the University of Strasbourg, focusing on the Unified Patent Court, and qualified as a European Patent Litigator. Utkan is a registered professional representative before the Unified Patent Court.
