The FICPI AI Patent Drafting Masterclass is a full day, in person training programme for patent attorneys who want to develop practical, defensible capability in AI assisted patent drafting.
Unlike webinars or product demonstrations, this masterclass is built around hands on drafting exercises, side by side comparison of leading AI patent drafting tools, and candid peer discussion. The focus is on real drafting workflows, professional responsibility, and confidentiality in everyday practice.
When & where
The masterclass takes place at the Corinthia Hotel, Budapest, and is scheduled immediately before the FICPI 23rd Open Forum.
It is a separate event with its own registration and programme. While timed to be convenient for delegates attending the Open Forum, the masterclass is designed and delivered as a stand‑alone technical training day.
Who should attend
This masterclass is designed for:
- Practising patent attorneys and IP practitioners
- Delegates at any career stage
- Attorneys with no prior experience, some experience, or advanced experience using AI drafting tools
Delegates are grouped by experience with AI drafting tools rather than by seniority or years in practice, ensuring that the training is relevant, practical, and effective for all participants.

- Understand how AI drafting tools and large language models operate in a patent drafting context
- Be able to assess confidentiality, data security, data retention, and privilege risks associated with AI tools

The AI drafting tools used in the masterclass will be announced shortly and will be drawn from among the current leading AI patent drafting platforms.
The tools are selected to support meaningful, side‑by‑side comparison across realistic drafting tasks. The focus of the masterclass is on understanding capabilities, limitations, and professional use, rather than on promotion of any particular product.
