FICPI representation and Uwe Borchert’s contribution
Uwe Borchert, FICPI´s Treasurer General, represented FICPI and played a pivotal role in reinforcing the significance of global cooperation in IP enforcement. During the Cocktail Reception, he delivered a speech emphasising the mutual benefits of collaboration between FICPI and the ASEAN IPA. He highlighted FICPI's unique position as an international organisation composed entirely of independent IP attorneys and its commitment to addressing challenges posed by digital advancements.
In his speech, Uwe congratulated the ASEAN IPA on the selection of an important and timely conference theme. He noted that digitalisation and artificial intelligence are reshaping the legal landscape and called for a concerted effort to address enforcement challenges. He also introduced FICPI's upcoming symposium in Jeju Island, Korea, which will explore the impact of digital developments on the future of IP practice, extending a formal invitation to ASEAN IPA members to participate.
He stressed that international cooperation between organisations like FICPI and the ASEAN IPA fosters a broader understanding of regional differences and enhances strategies for IP enforcement. His remarks resonated with attendees, reinforcing the idea that collaboration leads to more effective solutions for cross-border IP challenges.

The conference opened with a keynote address by H.E. Suon Vichea, Advisor to the Ministry of Commerce and Director of the Department of Intellectual Property. He provided insights into the evolving challenges of IP enforcement in the digital space.

- Cross-Border IP Enforcement: experts such as Ms. Xinlei Wang (CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office), Mr. Ben Yuu (NAM IP Group) and Mr. Kei Iida (Nakamura & Partners) discussed jurisdictional complexities and strategies for enforcement across borders.
- E-Commerce and IP Protection: industry leaders, including Mr. Daniel Dougherty (Alibaba International), Mr. Eddie Wu (Lee & Li)TWPAA) and Mr. David Haskel (Abacus IP) explored enforcement mechanisms tailored for online commerce.
- Cybersecurity and IP Protection: this session, featuring speakers such as H.E. Dr. Kong Phallak and Mr. Shigeru Inaba, focused on digital security measures for safeguarding IP.
- Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in IP: experts examined how mediation and arbitration can serve as effective solutions for resolving IP disputes without litigation.
