Excursion #1 // El Escorial: the eighth wonder of the world

09:30 – 17:30

Undoubtedly the best way to explore the history of Spain and especially the reign of Philip II. Built in the 16th century, the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial is a complex that includes a royal palace, a basilica, a pantheon, a library, a school and a monastery.

Located on the southern slope of Mount Abantos at 1028 metres of altitude in the Guadarrama mountain range, that gives it a high landscape value.

Since 1984 the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial has been part of the World Heritage list. It is the monument that best encapsulates the ideological and cultural aspirations of the Spanish “Golden Age.”

Lunch is included.
