Call for Tutors – 2025 SEAD Patent Drafting Course

The FICPI Academy is pleased to invite applications to join the panel of tutors for this year’s SEAD Patent Drafting Course, to be held in Singapore.

About SEAD

Since its inception in 1997, the SEAD course has been a cornerstone in patent drafting education, running successfully in the Far East, Europe, and South America. Sponsored by IPOS International, the 2025 course will continue this tradition of excellence.

What the Course Offers

The SEAD course teaches the art of patent drafting through an intensive curriculum that includes:

  • Three segments: Two in-person sessions in Singapore (May and November 2025) and an intermediate remote segment.
  • Small groups: A low tutor-to-student ratio ensures quality interaction.
  • Global reach: Tutors and students come from diverse jurisdictions, including Europe, the U.S., Japan, and Australia.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking experienced FICPI members with:

  • Proven patent drafting expertise, including the ability to draft specifications and claims for local and international prosecution.
  • A range of technical backgrounds (e.g., mechanical, electrical, chemical, biotechnology).
  • A passion for teaching and a desire to give back to the IP profession by helping to develop new talent in regions with limited access to patent drafting education, particularly Southeast Asia.

Why Get Involved?

  • Make a difference: Contribute to building patent drafting skills in regions where the IP profession is still developing, supporting local industrial growth and innovation.
  • Reimbursement: Flights and accommodation are covered.
  • Professional development: Share your knowledge, hone your teaching skills, and work alongside a global network of expert tutors.

If you’re interested, please apply now to become part of this impactful programme. For more details, refer to the SEAD brochure or contact us at [email protected].

Thank you for considering this unique opportunity to contribute to the IP profession!

Warm regards,

Geoffrey de Kleine
