On 25 June 2025 the top three entrants were announced at the 2025 ATRIP Annual Congress, this year held at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
Congratulations to 1st Prize Winner, Inbar Cohen Ganot, of the School of Law, New York University, winner of the 2024 ATRIP – Teaching and Research in IP – Essay Competition.
Inbar is a Research fellow at the Chief Justice Meir Shamgar Center for Digital Law & Innovation, Tel Aviv University; An advocate at Meitar Law Offices at the intellectual property and technology department. Her essay was entitled “Scientific Muse and Misuse: Reevaluating Authorship Attribution and Liability Allocation in the Generative AI Age”.
She was unable to travel to Copenhagen due to the escalating situation in her region but her essay was shared through a recorded presentation.
After the Congress, ATRIP President, Professor Orit Fischman-Afori had the pleasure of meeting Inbar Cohen Ganot, and personally presenting her with the winning certificate (pictured).
This year’s prizes were awarded by FICPI Vice President, Michael Caine, in an award ceremony hosted by ATRIP Past President (Immediate) Professor Christophe Geiger.
Michael Caine said, “It was an honour and pleasure to be able to present these awards on behalf of FICPI.”
Well done to all the ATRIP essay competition entrants, including the 2024 runners up:
2nd place: Joanna Belowska, PhD Candidate at the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Her essay was entitled “Between Patents and Patients: Why intellectual property alone cannot sustain drug repurposing”.
Joanna was able to attend the Congress in person and is pictured with Christophe Geiger (left) and Michael Caine.
3rd place: Katarina Foss-Solbrekk, Postdoctoral Fellow, Center for Advanced Studies in Bioscience Innovation Law (CeBIL), Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen, with an essay titled “Delay-and-pay: prolonging pharmaceutical patent protection without paying the ‘price’”.
