FICPI is committed to providing support and encouragement for younger people entering the intellectual property profession and is delighted to see more younger IP practitioners than ever attending the 22nd Open Forum and speaking at this year’s event.

We provided financial support to young delegates for the 2024 Open Forum this year by offering a reduced registration fee for the first 10 delegates aged under 40, an offer which was snapped up very quickly!

New FICPI members and first-time Open Forum attendees are welcome to join a special reception on 25th September, immediately before the Welcome Reception. This mixer is an excellent opportunity for new members and those new to the Open Forum to meet active FICPI officers and find out more about our groups and committees.

FICPI Member Under 40 competition winners

For the past two years we have run a FICPI Member Under 40s competition, with Laura Mannering of Bryn Aarflot in Norway our 2022 winner, and Tarso Machado of Kasznar Leonardos IP in Brazil our 2023 winner. Their prize was a generous rebate against registration for the following year’s FICPI headline event.

Laura is a European Patent Attorney, holds a Master’s Degree in Physics, and was elected by FONIP (Norway’s patent attorney association), as the Norwegian alternate delegate for FICPI’s Executive Committee meetings. She is an active member of FICPI’s Study and Work Group on International Patent Matters (CET 3) and of FICPI’s Practice Management Committee.

Tarso is Partner and Head of the Patent Electronics Department in his firm, is an Electronics Engineer focused on Artificial Intelligence and Automation, and active on FICPI’s Study and Work Group on Software, High-Tech and Computer Related Issues (CET 6).
