The Law of Ukraine “On protection of IP interests of persons during the martial law” was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and came into force on April 13, 2022. The said law stipulates suspension of the terms relating to the protection of IP objects (including examination terms, renewals, annuities etc.) for the duration of martial law.

The purpose of the said law is to guarantee suspension of deadlines and to secure position of the IP rights owners. The law is important for the Ukrainian IP rights owners and patent attorneys who don't have access to means of communication or became victims of war.

The Law does not disrupt the Ukrainian IP protection system in general and does not affect operation of the Ukrainian PTO.
