Climate

Budapest, situated in the heart of central Europe, is characterised by a continental climate.

In September the weather is generally pleasant; it is considered one of the best times to visit the city, with sunny but cool days.

Daytime temperatures usually range between 20-25°C/68-77°F at the beginning of the month, dropping to 15-18°C/59-64°F towards the end. Nights begin to cool down, with temperatures between 10-14°C/50-57°F.

September is a relatively dry month; on average, there are about 4-5 days of rainfall.

Currency HUF

The official currency in Hungary is the Hungarian Forint/HUF

Hungary is one of the EU countries that has not yet adopted the Euro. The local currency is the Hungarian Forint/HUF. The exchange rate is subject to change, but as a guide we can say that 300 HUF are roughly equivalent to 1 Euro/€.

Officially, you can pay everywhere by debit/credit card (mainly Visa/Mastercard), but in markets and small shops it is good to have some cash.

You are advised to change money in a bank or at an official exchange bureau, checking the exchange rates of MNB (Hungarian National Bank) beforehand - www.mnb.hu.

Dietary Requirements

Special dietary requests (e.g. gluten-free, lactose-free, vegetarian) may be accommodated.

Please clearly indicate any special requests – in particular food allergies - when completing your registration. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate dietary requirements which have NOT been indicated in advance.

A vegetarian option will be provided to those guests who have restrictions related to meat or fish, that will be normally served at meals.

Getting to Budapest

Budapest is relatively easy to get to since it's located right in the heart of Central Europe. The most common ways to get there are by plane, train, road (car or coach) or even boat (from Vienna and Bratislava).

Getting around the city is easy, too, since its public transportation system is fast, reliable, and extensive – the metro, trams, buses and suburban trains (HÉV) cover the entire city, making it easy to get anywhere.

AIRPORT

Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport (BUD Airport) is the largest international airport in Hungary and has been acclaimed as the best one in the region for ten consecutive years.

It offers connections to major cities in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America.

The airport is located 16 km southeast of the city and public transport provides easy access to the centre.

The bus stops are located on the arrivals level, between the two terminals; Bus n. 200E takes you to Kőbánya-Kispest metro station, where you can change to metro line M3 and get to the centre easily and quickly. The n.100E Airport Express Bus provides a direct connection between the Airport and Deák Ferenc Square, a key transport hub on the Pest side of the city (NB: this is a special line, only the "Airport shuttle bus single ticket" is accepted).

TAXIS

While several companies run taxis in the capital, all licensed cabs are yellow, have yellow licence plates, and are marked “Licensed Budapest taxi” on the driver’s door. Also their fares are licensed, and you can see the table of fares on the dashboard and the insides of the passenger doors. Cash and bank cards are both accepted.

The official partner of Budapest Airport is Főtaxi (+36 1 222 22 22 - www.fotaxi.hu/en/). You can order cabs at their kiosk at the airport.

The journey time on public transport from Liszt Ferenc Airport to the Corinthia Hotel Budapest is approximately 50 minutes; by taxi, about 30 minutes.
